These shields have been reproduced by craftsmen in Cameroon and represent the Bras group of people who live in isolation far inland in the foothills of the central mountain ranges.
They have seldom been in contact with Westerners and live in tree-houses high off the ground as a defensive measure. Their shields are their only sculptural form and the front face of the shield is carved with a relief image, which provide spiritual protection. Beautiful interior object.
